Falkirk Wheel

The Falkirk wheel is a rotating boat lift, connecting the fourth and Clyde canal with the Union canal. Soar 35 metres into the air and take a 50 minute boat ride. It is a magnificent, mechanical marvel which has been constructed to 21st century, state-of-the-art engineering. It is already being recognised as an iconic landmark worthy of Scotland's traditional engineering expertise.

Designed to replace a series of lock gates built in the 19th century - long since demolished and replaced by housing - The Falkirk Wheel is the showpiece of the Millennium Link project where coast-to-coast navigation of the canals has been re-established for the first time in over 40 years.

The Kelpies

The Kelpies are two magnificent steel structures which stand 30 metres above the Forth and Clyde Canal in Falkirk. The name reflects the mythological creature believed to possess the strength and endurance of ten horses, and is an outstanding tribute to the horse powered heritage of central Scotland.

Itinerary

Morning departure from the local area, you will arrive at the Falkirk Wheel with ample time to explore this unique attraction. Included is the 50 minute boat ride. The boat lifts up to join the Union Canal 35m above and sails smoothly from The Falkirk Wheel onto the Union Canal before returning to your starting point at our Visitor Centre. We will make the short drive for a visit to The Kelpies before returning home at 5pm.
