Dalmally is a small village spread along the Stratch of Orchy in Argyll & Bute 2 miles east of the tip of Loch Awe.

The village was established by the first Lord of Glenorchy, Sir Colin Campbell and started as a settlement serving the nearby historic Kilchurn Castle. Nowadays, Dalmally is a popular tourist destination surrounded by lochs, rivers, mountains and beautiful scenery with plenty of shops and amenities including hotels, holiday accommodation, places to eat and railway station operating on the Glasgow to Oban line.


Visitors can explore the historic sites along one of the following walks: Old Ruined Village and Paddys Point, the Duncan Ban Monument, the Old Military road, the Parish Church and the 18th century Bridges, Kilchurn Castle and Cruachan lower slopes and St Conan’s Kirk and Glen Strae.


Dalmally also lies on the popular long distance ‘Coast to Coast Walk’ from Oban to St Andrews.

Departing the local area in the morning we head north towards Dalmally. The journey will take us along the scenic shoreline of Loch Lomond. After checking in at the hotel there will be time to relax before your evening meal is served.


After breakfast, we will commence our journey to the coastal town of Oban. Passing the ruins of Kilchurn Castle, we head along the shoreline of Loch Awe, through the Pass of Brander towards Connel before descending into Oban with panoramic views across to the Isles of Kerrera and Mull. There will be free time in Oban to explore its shops and cafes or take a walk along the harbour. Afterwards, the coach will leave Oban and head south along the coastline and across the "Bridge over the Atlantic" and on to old slate island of Seil Island - famous for the film "Ring of Brightwater". We head to Easedale, opening up magnificent coastal scenery with turquoise waters and whitewashed fisherman's villages.


This morning we will take the 30-minute drive to the ancient town of Inveraray on Loch Fyne. Entrance to the famous Inveraray Castle is included. In the afternoon, we will take the 25-mile journey along the shores of Loch Fyne to what is known as the "Britain's most beautiful shortcut". The Crinan Canal is an engineering marvel, joining Loch Fyne at Ardrishaig with the op open sea at Crinan, 9 miles away. There are 15 lock gates and over 2000 vessels use it each year.


Today, after breakfast, we take a scenic drive to Fort William where we will join the famous Jacobite Steam train. The rail journey is arguably the most scenic railway journey in Europe, travel over the 21 arched Glenfinnan Viaduct made famous in the Harry Potter trilogies. Arriving in Mallaig there will be time to enjoy a walk round and take in the atmosphere: there are shops, bars, restaurants and plenty of fish and chips to be enjoyed. We then journey back to the hotel in time for dinner


After a leisurely breakfast, we depart the hotel for our return journey to Cumbria, stopping at off at Stirling, we arrive back early evening.
